Growing up reading stories and writing my own tales, had a tremendous impact on shaping my personality and became instrumental in determining my professional life, as it smoothly paved my way into journalism, and eventually into content marketing. While as a business journalist I learnt the nitty-gritties of reporting and editing, as a content specialist I realised the impact great storytelling has on a brand’s destiny. I learnt content writing, content strategy, and social-media management, and as a freelancer, helped shape the brand positioning for emerging companies and fast-growing start-ups.
My experiences have helped me evolve into a reliable communications professional, and piqued my interest in marketing. Working with technology-focused clients such as OPPO Mobiles, Uniphore, OYO, etc., and acquiring a first-hand experience of how well-designed, personalized marketing campaigns lead to business growth, I have realized that I want to pursue a career in Product Marketing at a consumer-tech firm, post PGP from ISB. As a Product Marketing Manager, I want to create long-term, consistent messaging that demonstrates how products solve people’s problems, and communicate the core product values with a user-first mentality, drive demand and adoption, and ultimately leave consumers satisfied.
To succeed in my endeavours, I require certain key skills I currently lack, including those of pricing products, benchmarking with competition, and analyzing market dynamics and data, which ISB’s PGP will help me acquire. While the courses in Marketing Management, Competitive Strategy and Business Communication will teach me the fundamentals of management and effective leadership, the electives in Marketing Research, Consumer Behaviour, and Business Analytics, will plug my knowledge gap, helping me achieve my immediate career goals. The case study methodology and the Experiential Learning Programme will help me work on relevant cases, such as the creation of a post-Covid marketing roadmap for a brand’s new product. Moreover, the diverse cohort will offer great peer-to-peer learning opportunities, broadening my perspective. Also, as a part of the Marketing Club I will hone my leadership skills, while through the Music Club, I will continue pursuing my passion.
In the long-term, I aspire to become the CMO of a global consumer-tech firm, responsible for increasing revenues and creating a customer-first company that drives value. As the catalyst for sustainable brand growth, I want to ensure highly personalized customer experiences, and advanced marketing innovations, changing the way the world perceives tech products. ISB’s PGP will empower me to achieve this ambitious dream!
